Welcome!
Hi, I’m Sílvio Cândido 👋
Mechanical Engineer, PhD - Thermal-Fluid and Multiphysics Systems
🔭 I develop mechanical, thermal-fluid and multiphysics systems for demanding R&D applications. My work spans high-power energy-absorption systems, liquid-metal and gas-cooling concepts, electromagnetic flows, conjugate heat transfer and thermo-mechanical design.
⚡ I combine first-principles engineering, numerical modelling and multidisciplinary system development to move projects from early concepts toward validated designs and prototypes.
🔭 I’m currently working as a Mechanical Engineer at CERN in Switzerland.
🌊 My work focuses on multiphysics simulations, including heat transfer, thermal shocks, Magnetohydrodynamics, and multiphase flow. My background is in Computational Fluid Dynamics and Electrohydrodynamic atomization. My PhD research explored how electric fields can control/induce the atomization of liquid jets. The animation below illustrates a Taylor cone jet, a phenomenon central to electrohydrodynamic atomization and the main topic of my PhD work.
