Electrohydrodynamic Multiphysics Modelling

Summary

Predict the deformation, instability, and breakup of electrically charged liquid jets. Developed a custom multiphase numerical model coupling fluid flow, electric fields, charge transport, and Maxwell forces.


Challenge

Predict the deformation, instability, atomization, and breakup of electrically charged liquid jets.

Developed custom OpenFOAM/C++ models coupling fluid flow, electric potential, charge conservation, Maxwell stresses, and interface tracking.

Methods

Finite-volume methods, multiphase VoF, electrohydrodynamics, custom solver development, verification and validation.

Outcome

Validated the models against theory, numerical benchmarks, and experimental measurements, with deviations below 2% for key quantities.
